Lush – Ocean Salt

I’ll be honest, I had never heard of Lush before. That’s normal, right? Apparently it’s all the craze. I get it, too. Handmade cosmetics. No animal testing. Fresh organic ingredients. They’re green… I’m sure you get the picture!
There’s a Lush store by me at Crocker Park. Why not waltz in and see what the hype is about, right? It was super busy in there. Plus it didn’t help that there were literally a million workers there… It was kind of overwhelming to walk into. You didn’t know where to go, and there’s so many different scents hitting you in the face. The crowded side of the store was where their bath bombs were. Therefore, I went to the not so crowded side. 🙂
They have a lot of products. No doubt. Everything and anything for your face, hands, feet, hair, body, etc. I took my time looking at the products. I was asked by a worker if I needed help with anything. I told her that I was looking around, and that it was my first time in the store. I was expecting her to kind of go into some detail about the shop, who they were, what they sell, where certain products are located around the store, maybe give me some recommendations, or tell me her favorite products. ANYTHING! Nope. Nada. Nothing of the sorts. Basically said “Oh, okay, well let me know if you need help” and walked away. Two thumbs up for your customer service there. Am I being too harsh?!

I was immediately drawn to Ocean Salt. If the product is for my face, I’m instantly going to be drawn to it. What can I saw, gotta keep it looking young and good. Yes, I’m getting old. Sigh. Anyway, Ocean Salt is a face and body scrub. On the package, it says “A vodka infused cocktail for bright, fresh skin.” SOLD! You had me at vodka. 😉 But really though, it contains coarse and fine sea salt, organic lime juice to brighten, and avocado butter to soften. Fancy, no? It’s pretty cool too that they have a sticker on the packaging of who made the product, and when. It’s a nice touch. Plus it has a cartoon drawing of the compounder. (Those are the people making the goods. I read that on their site) I had my heart set on getting the scrub. I tried looking around the store more, but quickly was over it. Too many people.

Isn’t it SO pretty. Heart eye emoji!

Lush
I’ve used the product a few times now. And I must say, I do enjoy it quite a bit!! The only part I don’t like too much is that the course salt kind of hurts my face when I’m scrubbing. And it’s not like I’m doing it rough either. But it certainly is not uncomfortable enough though to make me stop using the scrub. I do love the scent quite a bit. It’s very refreshing, and I get the lime coming through. The texture of the butter below the salt is so smooth. It’s easy to apply. Wet your skin, scoop some out, scrub, and rinse. And afterwards, be amazed at how soft your skin will feel. It’s SO good!! It is for your face and body, but I use for my face only. I got the smaller size, so, I want it to last a little longer since it’s not exactly cheap. 🙂 I got the 4.2 oz pot and it was $21.95.
I definitely will be getting this again. I’m always careful on what I put on my face. And this is just perfect!
I hope you have a chance to try this out! Have you ever been to Lush, and have any products that you just adore? Let me know in the comments! Would love to hear from you!

Beauty Favorites: Fourth Edition

Favorite Cleansers
  1. Yes To Cucumbers Facial Wipes
  2. Angelica Cleansing Gel
  3. Clarisonic
  4. Exfoliating Face Mask
  5. Refreshing Gel Cleanser
  6. Green Apple Organic Peel

In the last edition, we talked about moisturizers and why they are important. I figured we should take another step back, and talk about cleaning and exfoliating your pretty face. I love soft skin. Especially on my face. I didn’t start exfoliating my face up until a couple years ago. Guess where I got it from?! Yep, you guessed right. My time at Ulta. I first started with a gentle exfoliator that I used while I was in the shower. My oh my, my skin felt spectacular!! It was like a whole new world had opened up! I didn’t realize how soft my skin could feel. From that moment, I became hooked with often exfoliating. Now, I am NOT a professional. I’m just sharing my opinions and what I do which works for me. Ok? It’s such a good feeling to have a clean, smooth face with no added layers of grossness from the day. I don’t know about you, but sometimes towards the end of the day, I just look forward to coming home, pulling my hair up into a messy bun, and washing my face. Ahhhh. Heaven.

This weeks edition includes my favorite cleansers, exfoliator, and my number one tool for an amazing face. Shall we start?

  1. Yes to Cucumbers facial wipes are a life saver. I’ll admit, if I’ve stayed out too late, or just am feeling SO tired (lazy) to actually wash my face, I turn to the yes to. They smell refreshing, which is a bonus. It removes all of my makeup and eye makeup. Especially the stubborn mascara. These wipes are great to have on the go as well. I’ve seen thinner packs at Ulta that would fit perfectly into your purse.
  2. The cleansing gel was from the gift set that Troy got me for Christmas. I adore this cleanser. It makes my skin feel great and, well, clean. The scent is pretty and not overpowering. This also does not dry out my skin which is important! Hydration, ladies!
  3. Ah, the Clarisonic. Where to begin?! I have the 1 speed brush and it’s phenomenal. I highly recommend getting one. It’s the perfect tool to keep the dead skin cells and all that other yucky stuff off of your face. You too will love this when you try it.
  4. I tried this little guy on a whim when I was at Target one day. Sometimes, I just like to pamper myself with a new mask and how could I resist?! It’s so tiny and cute. I really enjoy this exfoliator. It’s not harsh and does the trick. My skin felt fantastic after. It’s really easy to use, as well.
  5. This daily gel cleanser is what I use with my Clarisonic. I actually just recently ran out of it. I think it’s a perfect companion to the Clarisonic. I couldn’t actually find it on their website, so I linked what I think is similar. I’m willing to bet that it’s pretty awesome too.
  6. The peel was a Christmas gift from Troy. It’s apple. I don’t think it smells all that great. It’s not really like apple, but when I use it, I do get a faint hint of the fruit. It doesn’t have the little beads in it that remind you of an exfoliator but it really works. I don’t use this too often, just when I kind of want extra boost. It leaves my skin feeling soft.

Well. There you have it. Remember to wash your face. I’m all about skipping steps to get straight into my beauty rest, and I’ll be the first to admit that I don’t always wash my face, but I’m trying to get better. You need a fresh canvas. Gotta keep the skin looking radiant!!

What are your favorite cleansers and exfoliators to use? I’d love to hear ’em!

Beauty Favorites: Third Edition

Moisturizers
  1. It’s Potent!
  2. Angelica Hydra Vital Cream
  3. Intense Hydration Day Lotion
  4. Active Moist
  5. Total Moisture Facial Cream

Let’s talk moisturizers. It’s very important to make sure you have this step in your daily routine. I for sure am quite guilty of not using any cream on my face. Then, when I’m putting on my makeup, I wonder as to why my skin looks flaky… amirite?! However, lately, I’ve been really good with making sure I use a moisturizer everyday. Flaky skin on your face (or body) is never appealing. It doesn’t take long to apply, so, you should do it. I don’t have REALLY dry skin on my face, but I feel like I do. I think it’s more normal to dry.

Here are my top 5 favorites.

  1. It’s Potent! eye cream is a staple in my routine. The eyes are what keep you looking young, people! I dab this, using my ring finger, around my eye. Gentle. Always gentle. Never pull the skin around your eyes. You want to keep the wrinkles away as long as you can, not bring them on faster. This cream from Benefit is my favorite. Not only does it help with fine lines, it’s a brightener and it helps with the dark circles. So, for me, this cream is perfect!
  2. This moisturizer from L’Occitane is by far my favorite that I’ve ever used. Troy got me this gift set for Christmas one year. It was beautiful. The scent wasn’t overpowering, it was pleasant. I liked how my face felt after I used it. So soft. It’s a little on the pricey end and therefore I haven’t gotten it again. But, it’s one of the best I’ve tried.
  3. Burt’Bee is what I’m currently using. I can easily find it, and it’s not too pricey. I’ve been using this one for a few months now and I’m happy with it. It does what I need it to do. Make my face not look flaky.
  4. Dermalogica. Where to begin. I discovered this brand when I, you guessed it, worked at Ulta. I love it. I don’t use it currently due to being on a budget. But, I would use it in a  heartbeat. My skin felt amazing after using. It was perfect.
  5. As you all know now, Benefit is pretty special to me. It wasn’t a surprise that I liked their facial cream. It worked its magic on my face. And all turned out well.

I don’t have anything negative to say about these creams. I suppose I just have great taste and everything always turns out the way I want. 😉 And I realize that I pretty much say the same things above, but they truly all worked. I needed to have smooth skin, and that’s what happened when I used all of these products. Seriously though, make sure to moisturize your face and neck. It just feels elegant to have such smooth skin that you can’t help but keep touching. But, don’t touch too much because who knows what is all over your hands, and then you’re putting it all over your face. You would then have to wash. Then moisturize. Again. It’s a vicious cycle. Perhaps you should just not touch your face, okay?

Let me know if you have any favorites!

Beauty Favorites: Second Edition

I first would just like to announce that you can: Follow my blog with Bloglovin  Yay!

Urban Decay
  1. De-Slick Mattifying Powder
  2. Eyeshadow Primer
  3. Naked3 Palette
  4. Naked Palette
  5. All Nighter Long Lasting Makeup Setting Spray
  6. Naked Basics Eyeshadow Palette
  7. 24/7 Velvet Glide-On Eye Pencil

Here we are. The second installment of my makeup favorites. This time they are all coming from Urban Decay. Urban Decay is another brand I discovered while working at Ulta. I’ve tried many products from them and have never been disappointed. Honestly. I mentioned before that I adore packaging, and these guys rock the packaging. I’m a big fan of the purple. Let’s get started, shall we?

  1. The mattifying powder is perfect for those who have a tendency to have shiny faces. I put it on in the morning. And keep it with me throughout the day if I need any touch ups. Which I hardly ever do, btw. Don’t let the white fool you, it’s invisible when you apply it onto your skin. No one likes to be shiny, so add this to your defense.
  2. Their eyeshadow primer is one of the best around. The one that is pictured is one I haven’t tried, but I have no doubt that it’s amazing. I’ve used their original primer mostly and truly love it. There are NEVER any creases. Plus it goes on so smoothly.
  3. Tha Naked3 palette is what I got for Christmas this time around. I’m not one to wear eyeshadow everyday. I’m more of a special occasion kinda gal to get all fancy with the shadows. However, there are times when I’m just wanting an extra boost of pretty, so I’ll slap some pretty color onto my lids. The brush that comes with this is amazing. It’s perfect. They are all shimmery, but it’s not all in your face glitter. It’s elegant.
  4. The original Naked palette is what got me hooked onto Urban Decay. I love love love love this. I got my many people hooked on this palette. For my wedding, all of the girls and I wore the same shadow. It wasn’t planned but it was super awesome. The color we wore was sin. Ha, that’s kinda funny considering it was my wedding day.  🙂  I’ve worn all of the colors except creep and gunmetal. I’ve tried them, but I find that it just doesn’t look great on me. As for the color half-baked, it tends to “shed”, so I recommend wearing Glitter Glue from Too Faced underneath. It’s a primer. It’s a tad sticky but it keeps the glitter from the eyeshadow falling ALL over the place.
  5. The makeup setting spray is fantastic. If I know I’m gonna be gone or busy for most of the day, I’ll spray that on when I’m done putting my makeup on. I also had this on for my sister’s wedding day. (I forgot to spray myself on my wedding day. We were running SO behind). It worked perfectly that day, and I believe my sister wore it as well. She looked flawless. As usual. Sigh. Anyway… I was apprehensive about this product, but it proved itself.
  6. The Naked Basics palette is matte. Which is a nice change from the shimmery eye shadows. If I want something neutral without drawing a lot of attention to my eyes, this is my go to. Bonus? I use the shade faint to fill my eyebrows and use as an eyeliner on my lower lids. Who said you need to just use it for eyeshadow?!
  7. This eye liner doesn’t budge. I apply it to my lower lids, not all the way. I usually start from the outer lower lid and work my way in, stopping in the middle. From there I smudge. I do not like a harsh line. By smudging, it makes it look a lot softer and natural. This liner is literally one of the best.

What do you think? Do you have and use any of these products? I would love to hear your opinions!

Beauty Favorites: First Edition

Benefit Favorites
  1. Erase Paste
  2. Watts Up!
  3. Porefessional
  4. Instant Brow
  5. they’re Real!
  6. Hervana

This is the first installment where I share all of my favorite makeup products! I didn’t really care for makeup when I was younger. I really, really loved it when I was going through the awkward jr. high phase of acne. I had it bad, too. Concealer was my number 1 friend. I’m pretty positive I wore the wrong shade and didn’t blend well. Eh. It’s all good. I survived. And now I somehow manage to have great skin. Or so I’ve been told. 😉

My love for makeup happened when I started working at Ulta a couple years back. Don’t get me wrong, I wore makeup. CoverGirl for everything. I didn’t wear much. Foundation, blush, mascara. And, sometimes eyeshadow. Nothing fancy. I learned so much once I started at Ulta. I’ll admit, I became a makeup snob.

I like the higher end products because of how well they are made, how long they stay on, how they actually go on, just to name a few reasons. Also, the packaging is really cute typically. I’m all about the packaging. Really, it’s how I pick out wine. 😉

  1. Erase Paste is a life saver. You really do not need a lot. A little bit goes a long way. The paste is amazing for covering dark circles under the eyes. I feel like mine are super bad, and so I dab this on, and all done! Instant brightness!
  2. Watts Up is a highlighter. Now, I do not wear this everyday. Just special occasions or when I want a little bit of a boost. The color is champagne and it goes on very smoothly. And hello! The packaging is ADORABLE! It has a sponge on the other end to blend. Don’t forget that part. Fun fact: my dad once told me my face looked greasy when I had this on. 🙂 Dads…
  3. Porefessional is a primer. My oh my, it’s wonderful. It goes on extremely smooth. It minimizes my pores, and makes my skin look flawless.
  4. Instant brow. I need another one. I’m all about eyebrows. They need to have definition. And they actually need to be there. I like them on the fuller side. Mine aren’t full. They are on the thicker side, but not very full. This is the perfect tool to get them looking fantastic.
  5. they’re Real mascara. Simply put? Amazing. They really do make your lashes all long and full looking. Definitely my favorite. I’m currently wearing BADgal masacara. It’s okay, but I prefer they’re Real.
  6. Hervana blush. The colors are absolutely beautiful. Sweep your brush over all those beauties, and then sweep on your cheeks. Perfection.

There it is. My first edition of my favorite beauty products. Benefit Cosmetics is one of my favorite brands. I’m always talking them up whenever I get a chance. Check them out! They have SO many wonderful products. Even if you don’t want to buy anything, just check out how adorably cute their brand is. Do it. You’ll fall in love. See you next time!
